Roundhay Park - guide to Roundhay Park & Tropical World Leeds:
Lakeside Cafe, Boating Jetty and Waterloo Lake
In 1902 the boathouse when newly completed housed 150 boats together with a boatbuilders shop! The lake is used regularly by keen fishermen and on Saturdays throughout the year the Leeds Schools Boat Club meet and make good use of this beautiful stretch of water. Wagtail, Moorhen, Coot, Mallard, Swan Heron and Grebe are known to frequent the lake. On the Northern edge Alder, Sycamore and Willow grow. The woodland strip to the West is characterised by mature trees with bracken undergrowth and bluebell, in recent years a greater-spotted woodpecker has been heard in this wood. MORE... |
