Roundhay Park, Castle Ruins Photographed Summer 2008.

Located on high ground overlooking Waterloo Lake, the sham castle was built in the form of a medieval gateway, one of the last structures to be added by Nicholson in the early 1820's. Used as a hunting lodge and summer house it appears that the Castle quickly fell into disrepair when the park was opened to the public.

The Castle has been restored as part of the Restoration of the Park at the beginning of the 21st Century.

Views from the Castle over Waterloo Lake are breathtaking.
